Snapchat Threat Against Middle School Prompts Investigation: D140
The threat against Grissom Middle School was reported Saturday evening, the District said. Police have identified a suspect.
TINLEY PARK, IL — A threat against Grissom Middle School shared on social media Saturday evening prompted a police investigation, officials said.
Kirby District 140 officials were alerted to the post made on Snapchat, Superintendent Dan Callaghan said.
"... we were alerted to a Snapchat post that raised concerns, and we immediately informed the Tinley Park Police Department," Callaghan said. "They have begun their investigation."

Callaghan said he is limited to what he can share, due to the incident involving a juvenile.
"Please know that we take school safety very seriously and are working closely with the police to ensure the safety of all our students and staff," he said.

Police said they have identified a juvenile suspect.
"... investigators are engaged and have contained the situation," police said. "This is a juvenile case and no further information will be forthcoming until further notice. There is no further threat."
School is not in session in District 140 Monday, due to a previously scheduled Teacher Institute Day.
