The Fans Have Spoken: NBC 5 Will Head to Andrew at Sandburg Football Match-up
The media station will be holding a pep rally and early morning tailgate Friday as part of its all-inclusive game coverage.
The votes have been tallied.
NBC 5 announced today that its crew will be heading to Friday's for its Prep Destination of the Week feature. The other choices, Warren at Maine South and Carmel at Joliet Catholic got 401 and 2,941 votes, respectively.
Camera crews will first land in Orland Park early for a Friday morning tailgate that will "highlight all the essentials for casual prep followers and fans of both teams," said an NBC 5 news release sent Wednesday around 12:15 p.m.
Seemingly simple details, like parking, finding gas and nearby food, will all be included in that newscast, they said.
"This year we'll also focus on the great students, fans and communities behind all the schools around Chicagoland …" the release said.
Crews arriving at Sandburg Friday morning are encouraging kids and fans to bring signs and most importantly, their school spirit.
"If anything, we ask for the fans to be energetic as we hope to showcase your community pride all throughout Chicagoland," the release said.
Highlights from the game will be featured in the station's "Sports Sunday" segment.
