Thief Pickpockets Man at LA Fitness

Someone stole four credit cards from a man's gym bag.

A thief seized the opportunity to steal a man's credit cards while he was working out last week at a local gym.

The victim, who was pumping iron at LA Fitness, 18400 Convention Center Drive in , called the cops around 11 a.m. Friday after he noticed that four credit cards were missing from his wallet, which was inside a gym bag and in a locked locker.

The man said he believed someone snagged the plastic between 7:15 a.m. and 8:15 a.m., but didn't know how—the bag was in his sight before he secured it in the locker, according to the report.

Five charges totaling $1,648.28 were made using the cards, the report said. They were all at Target, 7300 W. 191st St.

Police have been meeting with store security and have surveillance footage of two men using the cards, they said. Employees at the gym have also given evidence to police.

Cmndr. Steve Vaccaro has said these types of thefts are not uncommon, as burglars know people tend to leave their valuables behind during a workout.

The case remained under investigation Tuesday.
