Thousands Flock To Oak Park Avenue For Tinley Park Irish Parade: PHOTOS

Sun and mild temperatures drew a packed crowd out to Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park Sunday, March 9.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Thousands lined Oak Park Avenue in downtown Tinley Park Sunday, March 9 for a picture-perfect parade day.

Sunny skies and spring-ish temps had the crowd smiling and eager to enjoy the two-hour, 90-entry parade lineup. Mayor Michael Glotz last week estimated that 40,000 were expected to attend this year's event, toppling last's year total of 33,000. Village Manager Pat Carr said late Sunday that this year's attendance estimate wasn't quite in yet.

The parade traveled from 179th Street north to the Subway parking lot at 172nd and Oak Park Ave., squeezing through a portion of the road narrowed by construction just past the newly opened Teehan's.
