Tinley Board Holds Moment Of Silence For Aurora Shooting Victims

Mayor Vandenberg said he wanted families of Aurora's shooting victims to know that Tinley Park is thinking about them.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Mayor Jacob Vandenberg took a break in Tuesday night's otherwise light meeting agenda to offer a moment of silence for the victims of last week's shooting at a manufacturing plant in Aurora. He wanted their families to know that that the boards "thoughts are with them," he said.

Vandenberg asked for the short moment of silence at the end of regularly scheduled business, just before the board moved into executive session. No one objected.

Last Friday, five people were killed and six officers were injured in a shooting that rocked the western suburbs. The gunman, Gary Martin of Aurora, also died at the scene.
