Tinley Citizens Fire Academy Back For Third Year, Registration Open
Program is held Mondays August 5 to Sept. 30. Applications due by April 30.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park residents hoping to get an insiders' view and education on the Tinley fire department have a unique opportunity.
The Tinley Park Fire Department will once again host its Citizens Fire Academy to teach residents what it’s like to be a firefighter. Topics will include fire suppression, fire prevention, operations, fire equipment and CPR.
Classes for the eight-week course will be held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m., from August 5 through Sept. 30. No class will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 2.

All applicants must be at least 21 years old, and attendance is mandatory for 75% of the classes in order to receive a completion certificate. All applicants must work or reside within the Village of Tinley Park, and the Village will conduct a background check on each applicant.
The class is limited to 20 participants.
