Tinley Park July 4th Fireworks, 5K Run And More: 2018 Guide

TINLEY PARK, IL — Summer is already chugging along, and that means Fourth of July celebrations are getting ready to fill the air with fireworks. Here's what Tinley Park has planned for Independence Day this year.
The village has a full day of festivities with the Tinley Park-Park District’s annual Fourth of July Celebration. The event begins with the Stars and Stripes 5K Run/Fun Walk, which is from 8 to 9:30 a.m. July 4 at McCarthy Park, 16801 S. 80th Ave. Registration for the race is from 7 to 7:45 a.m.
The park's batting cages and miniature golf course open at 11 a.m. following the race. But the celebration doesn't really get started until 4 p.m., when opening ceremonies kick off the event.

The food tent also opens at that time and a variety of activities and attractions get under way. Those include a penny carnival, a horseshoe tournament, face painting, inflatables and more.

Live music also will be performed on the park's main stage starting at 4:15 p.m. with Peter Oprisko. The Hat Guys then take the stage at 5:30 p.m. and will play until 9:15 p.m.
Of course, no Fourth of July celebration is complete without a fireworks display. Tinley Park's pyrotechnic extravaganza is set for around 9:15 p.m., once the sun sets.
