Tinley Park Mom Has Concussion From Daycare Incident: Police

TINLEY PARK, IL — A Tinley Park woman who police say was involved in a fight outside of Tutor Time daycare center last month is now unable to return to work due to injuries from the incident.

The fight broke out in front of the daycare at 8007 West 183rd Street on Nov. 17, according to Tinley Park police. At the time, three parents were cited for "fighting in public" after police said one woman hit another woman's vehicle with her car door.

The daughter of 31-year-old Azia Taylor and the child of Beatriz Luna-Delgado and David O'Donnell were both banned from the daycare center following the incident.

Now, Taylor said in an online fundraiser that she is unable to support herself or her daughter while she recovers from a concussion she says she received.

"On November 17 at Tutor Time learning center in Tinley park while picking up my now 2 year old daughter, I was assaulted by a woman and her husband," Taylor wrote in a description for the GoFundMe campaign. "They spewed racial slurs while punching me in the face and banging my head into my car window as my child watched. Due to this event I suffered a concussion."

The Flossmoor native told Patch her doctor said she would be unable to return to her job as a nurse until February due to the severity of the head injury. As a single mother, Taylor said she needs to find a way to support both her and her daughter.

Police told Patch they do not know who started the fight though O'Donnell, Luna-Delgado's husband, was seen by officers trying to separate the two women when they arrived.

In an Instagram post from Nov. 22, an account claiming to belong to Azia Taylor detailed the incident from her perspective, saying the altercation was racially motivated. Taylor said she accidentally hit Luna-Delgado's car while she was trying to put her daughter in the backseat before the woman called Taylor a "black b-tch" and the two began to fight.

Taylor continues to speak out about the incident on social media. Tinley Park police did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the status of the investigation. As of last month, police were still searching for security camera footage in hopes of finding a video of the incident.
