Tinley Park Residents To Pay More For Trash Removal
A 3.5-percent increase from Homewood Disposal Services will kick in Oct. 1.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park residents will soon see a jump in their trash removal fees, reflective of a 3.5-percent increase from provider Homewood Disposal Services, officials announced.
The higher rate will be effective Oct. 1, the Village announced. New rates will be $28.11 per month for residents, $26.61 per month for residents ages 65 and older who have applied for the senior citizen discount. The rate is $0 per month for certified, 100 percent disabled veterans, officials said.
The contract also offers an optional service for townhome and condominium associations at a per-unit rate of $25.82 per month for individual invoicing and $24.11 per month for HOA-direct invoicing.

The Village's contract with Homewood Disposal Services went into effect Oct. 1, 2019, and includes e-waste collection, Christmas tree collection, special discounts for veterans and seniors, and the option for townhomes and condominiums to opt-in, officials said.
"Personally, I don't like paying $28.11 per month either, but in totality, it was only a $2.49 increase over almost 6 years from previous monthly rates," Mayor Michael Glotz commented on the news. "We wish it was even lower, but costs for everything are skyrocketing, and this is an excellent contract from where it was back in 2018. The staff did an excellent job with this contract, in my opinion."
