TINLEY PARK, IL — A video circulating social media appears to show Tinley Park High School students and staff pointing their phones like guns as part of a TikTok trend to the 21 Savage song "Who Want Smoke?"

The trend, which has accumulated 1.2 million views across 51,000 videos on TikTok, shows students in school settings pointing their phones at a camera as if they are guns and posing to the music. School officials told Patch the students "misled" staff by asking them to be a part of the video.

"From what we understand, this video is a result of a TikTok Challenge where a student misled individuals in regards to the purpose and content of the video," a District 228 spokeswoman wrote in a statement to Patch. "It's extremely disheartening that our students would find this content or prank to be humorous. It's even more saddening that a student would choose to mislead staff members who are there to support them and help them every day."

It it not clear exactly how the staff members were misled into participating and posing in the video. Administrators said they are investigating the situation and those involved will face consequences.

The video was originally posted on Facebook and then recorded and shared to TikTok. It is unclear who owns the video, though almost 20 students make an appearance, along with what looks to be four staff members. One of the staff members filmed appears to be Tinley Park Principal Theresa Nolan.
