TINLEY PARK, IL — Three members of the One Tinley Park party were sworn in as trustees for the village of Tinley Park in a ceremony led by beloved former political heavyweights, including longtime mayor Ed Zabrocki.

Diane Galante, Michael Mueller and William Brennan, who all are taking office for the first time, are all members of the new party co-founded by trustee Michael Glotz and clerk Kristin Thirion.

Zabrocki's keynote address borrowed from remarks he said he believed was written by former Chamber of Commerce President Frank Kurzawa for a 1992 inauguration. It outlines citizens' expectations for village leaders to be accountable, transparent and defenders of Tinley Park.

"What we expect is for you to be proud, to be dedicated, and to have a passion for Tinley Park. We expect you to be honest, fair and loyal..." he said. "We expect you to be be a weaver of a common thread to keep Tinley Park together by pulling neighborhoods into one community."

And citizens, Zabrocki said, expect trustees to hold Tinley as a "precious gem that will shine every day you are in office."

The trustees, for their part, promised to do so.

"The first thing I was humbled by is that our message resonated with voters," Michael Mueller said. "It was a simple message. There were four principles we wanted to stand by for all our decision-making: We wanted to express unity, respect, equity and humility -- and it resonated."
