ICYMI: Tinley Park Teens Recognized By Village Officials

One student's athletic achievements, and another's contribution to kids' education, earned them recognition on Tuesday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Two local students were honored by the Tinley Park Village Board on Tuesday, as the board works to recognize youth achievements.

One Tinley Park student, Solomon Wilson-Smith, was recognized by the board for winning the 2A Illinois State Championship 110-meter high hurdles in May with a time of 13.98 seconds, the village posted on its Facebook page.

Wilson-Smith is repeatedly the champion, including four times in the conference and four times in the sectional. He's got three state qualifications and has four all-state athlete recognitions under his belt. He also placed third twice in the Illinois Prep Top Times indoor meet.
