Tinley Park Woman Accused of Stealing From Home She Watched for Couple

Police arrested a local woman Friday and charged her with theft.

arrested a woman Friday believed to be connected with a home burglary reported last week on Scheer Drive.

Megan M. Vimarco, 25, of the 17700 block of Pheasant Drive in Park, has been charged with theft. She was house sitting Aug. 24 to Sept. 3 at a home in the 8500 block of Scheer Drive and caring for a dog there while the homeowners and their 4-year-old child were out of state, according to the report.

The homeowners returned to find that $800 in cash missing from a hidden jewelry box, and a debit card missing as well. Vimarco was given the alarm code, garage door opener, garage code and mailbox code, police said.

Upon their return, the homeowners were greeted by several voicemails from their bank saying that someone was making suspicious purchases in their absence. A total of $25 in gasoline was paid for at a local station on Sept. 1 and $200 was withdrawn that same day from a Highland Park ATM. A $400 withdrawal was made Sept. 3 and a third attempt to get $500 was denied, according to the report.

Vimarco was arrested around 11 a.m. Friday at the , the report stated. She was charged with theft and her bail was set at $1,500.
