Tinley Park Woman Seriously Hurt In Crash Between Car, Pickup

A 32-year-old Crete man has been charged with aggravated DUI stemming from the accident Sunday.

WILL COUNTY, IL — A 43-year-old Tinley Park woman was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash Sunday just west of Manhattan in Will County, according to Illinois State Police. She was one of three people suffering serious injuries in the accident.

Matthew Hurta, 32, of Crete, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence and disobeying a traffic control device stemming from the crash. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Joliet, treated and released before being taken to Will County Jail. His bond hearing is set for Monday afternoon, according to the Will County Sheriff's Office.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday, July 22, near Route 53 and Manhattan-Monee Road, the state police said. Hurta was traveling east on Manhattan Road in a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck when he allegedly ran the red light at Route 53, and the front of his truck hit the passenger side of a Buick Lucerne in the intersection, police added.

The Tinley Park woman was riding in the pickup and taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, according to state police. Another passenger in the truck — a Crete man — was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood with serious injuries, police added.

The driver of the Buick also was taken to Loyola with serious injuries. Two other passengers in the car suffered minor injuries.
