TINLEY PARK, IL — Ann Herbach, a 100-year-old Tinley Park woman, had her milestone birthday celebrated in style last weekend. Members of the Tinley Park Citizens Volunteer Committee, including Village Trustee Michael Glotz and Village Clerk Kristin Thirion, delivered the new centenarian a birthday cake and sang "Happy birthday" to mark the occasion.

It was an "honor" for the volunteer committee to do so, Glotz said. Committee member Colleen Sullivan provided the cake and cupcakes for the group, he added.

The cake was delivered on Sunday, while Herbach's actual 100th birthday came on Monday.

The volunteer committee has worked since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in delivering groceries and prescriptions to residents who are considered at-risk for the new disease. In April, several members of the group delivered a free car courtesy of Joe Rizza Ford to a senior couple who had been without one.
