Tinley Participates In 'World’s Largest Swimming Lesson'
The 'World's Largest Swimming Lesson' spreads awareness that drowning is preventable. White Water Canyon Water Park is participating.

TINLEY PARK, IL — White Water Canyon Water Park in Tinley will be a host site for the 2019 World’s Largest Swimming Lesson next week.
During the event, tens of thousands of kids and adults will gather at aquatic facilities around the world to spread awareness that swimming lessons save lives. It's the ninth year of the event.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, drowning remains the leading cause of unintended, injury-related deaths for U.S. children ages 1 to 4, and the second leading cause for children under 14. Research shows that participation in formal swimming lessons can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children aged 1 to 4, yet many kids do not receive formal swimming or water safety training. The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson hopes to spread that message.
