Tinley Water Park Will Dive In To World's Largest Swimming Lesson

Find out how you can participate in the worldwide event this week at White Water Canyon Water Park.

TINLEY PARK, IL — White Water Canyon Water Park will participate with other water parks around the globe to try to set the world's record for the largest swimming lesson. The attempt at the Guinness World Record-setting lesson will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at the water park, 8125 W. 171 St.

Registration for the 30-minute event is at 9:15 a.m. at the water park's front gate. Parents are encouraged to participate in the lesson with their children, according to the park.

Started by the World Waterpark Association in 2010, the World's Largest Swimming Lession is designed to build awareness of teaching children to swim in order to prevent drownings, the second-leading cause of unintended, injury-related death among U.S. children ages 1 to 14. Water parks, pools, swim schools, YMCAs and other aquatic facilities

This isn't the first time White Water Canyon has been a part of the World's Largest Swimming Lesson's record-setting attempts over the years. The water park has participated in the event as far back as 2015.
