Tinley's Oktoberfest Readying To Tap The Keg, Volunteers Needed

The Tinley Park Chamber's 7th annual Oktoberfest is set for Sept. 20–22 at the 80th Avenue Metra Station North lot.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Lace up your dirndls, throw on your lederhosen and grab a stein—the annual Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce Oktoberfest is readying for its return.

The three-day fest hosted by the Tinley Park Chamber of Commerce kicks off Friday, Sept. 20 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 22. This year's event will be held at the 80th Avenue Metra Train Station North lot, moved back from the South lot. Hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, Saturday 1 to 11 p.m, and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. Entrance is $10 per person for age 18 and over; 17 and under are free.

The fest will feature authentic German food, beer, traditional and modern live music, ceremonial keg tapping and more. There will be a stein hoisting contest each day, with gift cards to local restaurants & bars going to the winners—plus a year of bragging rights.

The Chamber is in need of volunteers throughout the weekend. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt, along with a food and beverage voucher that can be used at any of the festival's vendors. Anyone interested should call (708) 532-5700 or email volunteer@tinleychamber.org.

ENTERTAINMENT

A carnival will be offered Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 9 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m. Live music is set for each day. All carnival attendees will pay for entry: $20 for 20 ride tickets, or $35 per person for unlimited ride wristband.
