Trustees OK Wrecking Ball for 3 Vacant Buildings After Owners Defaulted on Fines
Village officials gave the go-ahead last week to spending nearly $150,000 to level three TInley Park buildings that have been sitting empty.
Village of Tinley Park trustees are leveling the playing field — literally — by knocking down three vacant buildings owned by individuals who have reportedly neglected to pay up for incurred code and other violations.
The to-be-razed structures include empty office building shells at 6825 W. 171st and 171st Street and Harlem Avenue; as well as a home at 6573 W. 167th St, The Chicago Tribune reported last week. The home was damaged in an October 2014 fire.
"Owners of the three properties have been fined more than $100,000 combined for various violations, according to the village," the story indicates.
