U.S. Bank Is Closing 21 Branches Across Chicago Suburbs

ORLAND PARK, IL — U.S. Bank is closing 21 locations across Chicago's suburbs — some as soon as the next few weeks — leaving many suburbs, including Flossmoor, Alsip and Park Ridge, without a branch.

Crain's Chicago Business reports that the Minneapolis-based bank is closing 13 percent of its branches here as it adapts to customer preference for online banking, and pulls back from saturating some area with its locations. Many closures are already underway.

The suburban closures will take place in: Alsip, Evergreen Park, Orland, Flossmoor, Oak Park, Plainfield, Park Ridge, Naperville, Evergreen Park, Berkeley, Downers Grove, Evanston, Roselle, Algonquin, Oak Lawn, Cary, Orland Park, Cicero and Lyons.

Suburbs that will be left without a branch are: Alsip, Berkeley, Cary, Flossmoor, Park Ridge, Roselle, and Lyons.

“Customers’ banking behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for greater simplicity. As we evolve along with our customers, we are re-evaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating a limited number of branch locations in select markets. The same process will result in reinvestment in core retail banking markets in the form of new, relocated or redesigned physical locations by the end of 2020,” bank representatives said, according to Crain's.

The branches that will close, along with their final operating dates, are:
