Ugliness After Fashion Show: Cops

A Homewood woman punched another woman during a fashion show at a Tinley Park church, police said.

The two women — Kindell Anderson, 50, and Aftan Brown, 33 — were reportedly at Anointed Word International on 84th Avenue for the Step Into Fashion Show on July 10.

“After the event was over (Brown) was in the west parking lot and saw the media director/offender, Kindell Anderson,” police said. “She advised they had exchanged words earlier in the night over the choice of some of the music and the argument turned into a contract dispute.”

Anderson “became very upset and so did Aftan,” police said. “Kindell placed her hand on Aftan’s chest to keep distance, but she used her right hand to deliver a closed fist punch to Aftan’s left cheek.”

Brown reportedly refused medical attention.

“After the punch several people separated the two parties,” police said.

Anderson reportedly told police that “Aftan was being rude all night.” She explained that Brown became “angry when the music she chose was turned low during parts with swear words,” police said.

“Kindell stated Aftan was yelling and screaming at her earlier in the night over the music incident,” police said. “Kindell advised (that) in the parking lot Aftan came to her vehicle and started to yell at her again. Kindell exited her vehicle and they engaged in an argument. Aftan became upset and Kindell placed her hand on Aftan’s chest to keep distance from her. Kindell denies touching Aftan’s face in any way.”

Despite this denial, the cops took Anderson into custody.

“Due to witness accounts, Kindell was placed under arrest for battery,” police said.
