Vote: How Well Were Local Roads Plowed?

Tinley Park was covered with about 6 inches of snow last week, one of the highest totals in the Chicago area during the year's first snow.

 was blanketed last week with about 7 inches of snow—a welcomed change for those who were tired of this year's so-far mild winter.

So how well were your streets plowed? Vote in our poll below.

Friday morning and didn't stop until around midnight Saturday.  and —1 inch per hour falling during the 5 p.m. rush.

The of snow. During a snowfall, all streets receive two passes down the center. After the entire route has been run and the snow has finished falling, the plows return to clean the streets curb to curb.

  • "‎80th Ave was horrible too. It took me 20 minutes to get from 163rd & 80th Ave to 179th & 84th Ave.," one resident said Friday afternoon.
  • "Once again, where were the plows?? Our tax dollars at work!," another reader responded.
  • "It took my husband over an hour to get home...slippery on I80... Just crawling going towards I355... So he hopped off at LaGrange and took all the side roads.. Then got stuck coming into his own driveway!!! Lol."

This was obviously nowhere near as bad as last February's blizzard. Seven inches of snow in January? I think we can handle it. But it wasn't exactly easy to get from point A to point B.

I drove around town throughout Friday. The major roads like Harlem and Oak Park avenues were definitely treacherous. 

By Saturday morning, the major roads were pretty clear, though many side streets still needed work.
