Walgreens Pharmacy Computer Delays Affect Customers Nationwide

The nationwide pharmacy computer outage affecting Walgreens stores this week continues today, making for long waits as customers try to get prescriptions filled.

All 8,200 stores are affected, with stores losing access to the central pharmacy database. The system is gradually being restored.

“Our pharmacies are still able to fill prescriptions and process most insurance claims, however some patients may experience longer wait times until certain functionalities are fully restored,” a company spokesman said in a statement.

Walgreens, based in Deerfield, said the “technical issues” arose on Tuesday after system maintenance.
