Avoid Being a Victim of Scams, Fraud and Identity Theft

Are you worried about becoming the victim of a scam, fraud, or identity theft?Β 

Police are seeing more and more of these types of crimes in our area. To help educate residents, the Lincolnshire Police Department is sponsoring a special luncheon seminar on "Scams, Fraud, and Identity Theft" at 11:30 a.m. June 20 atΒ Eddie Merlot's Restaurant, 185 N. Milwaukee Ave., Lincolnshire.

Learn about the different types of scams being perpetrated in our communities, including mail, telephoneΒ and internet scams. Useful tips and information regarding how to avoid becoming a victim will be presented, as well as resources available to you if you are victimized. Speakers will include representatives from theΒ LakeΒ CountyΒ State’s Attorney’s Office, the Illinois Attorney General's Office, the U.S. Postal Service, and members of the Lincolnshire Police Department.

The seminar is open to the public and there isΒ no registration fee. Senior citizens are especially encouraged to attend due to the rising trend in scams involving the elderly community.

Eddie Merlot's is offering a lunch special, priced at $15 (inclusive of tax and gratuity) for those attending the seminar. The following menu will be available:

First Course:Β Caesar Salad or Roasted Tomato Bisque Soup
Second Course:Β Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Bleu Cheese Burger, or Grilled Cheese Sandwich (all sandwiches served with fresh homemade potato chips)
