Oui! Oui!It’s not a farmers market. It’s a French market, and it opens in the Vernon Hills Metra station parking lot at 75 E. Route 45 this Saturday.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Oct. 19.
At the market, customers can buy imported foods, crafts, specialty items and more from a variety of vendors. Featured will be cheeses like brie and basil from The Cheese People, herbs from Jane’s Herbs, gourmet mushrooms from River Valley Ranch in Wisconsin and sweets and artisan breads from Hahn’s Bakery, according to the village.
A recruitment event for market vendors was held in February by Bensidoun USA, a company that markets and develops French markets in Paris, New York and Chicago.
It was Vernon Hills resident and artisan Karen Duffley who discovered the company and brought the concept to the Village of Vernon Hills.
