Hawthorn District 73 Schedules Discussion on Student Placement
Parents are invited to a March 5 roundtable discussion on the district not making Adequate Yearly Progress on standardized tests and how those scores can impact where students are placed in the schools.

The Hawthorn AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) Committee encourages the community to attend a parent information meeting and round table discussion about AYP issues, specifically about how AYP may impact how students are placed in the schools.
The meeting, which is scheduled for March 5 at 7 p.m. at Hawthorn Middle School South, 600 N. Aspen Drive, in Vernon Hills, and will include a brief informational presentation followed by an opportunity for parents to offer their ideas and comments in a round table format.
The district will post more information on its Website as it becomes available, along with sending a reminder home in students' backpacks.

Hawthorn District 73 failed to make AYP in reading and math on the 2012 Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT) according to the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

As a result, the district was identified for improvement according to the AYP specifications of the No Child Left Behind Act for the second consecutive year. It was also the second year the district received "Academic Early Warning" status.
