'It's Not a Farmers Market'

There's something you should know about Vernon Hills' upcoming French market, which will be open weekly this summer and fall.

"It's not a farmers market," Village Administrator Mike Allison said.

While the market could offer produce, "it's also cheeses, bakery, coffee" and other products, he explained.

The market will operate from June 1 to Oct. 18 every Saturday in the Metra parking lot. Vendors are being lined up by event organizer Bensidoun USA.

Village officials discussed promotional plans last week, including banners and signs on the Metra platform and near Route 45.
