Local Author's Book Focuses on Navajo Code

Vernon Hills author Larry Stillman, formerly of Lake Forest, has received positive comments on his book "The Rope Catcher," about a Navajo code talker during World War II.

Self-published author Larry Stillman, 70, of Vernon Hills, talked to the Vernon Hills Review about his second book, "The Rope Catcher," a fictional account of a Navajo Code Talker during World War II. The code was the only one the enemy couldn't break, he told the Review.

Stillman, formely of Lake Forest, traveled extensively to the Southwest to research the book, which is available on Amazon.com and has received positive reviews.

In July 2005, Stillman published "A Match Made in Hell: The Jewish Boy and the Polish Outlaw Who Defied the Nazis" with Morris Goldner.
