Low Voter Turnout Reported in Vernon Hills

Did you vote in the April election?

If so, you were in the vast minority, according to reports from the Lake County clerks’ office.

There are 14,559 registered voters in Vernon Hills. Of those, only 1,124 cast ballots in the village trustee race, according to unofficial tallies from the Lake County clerk’s website. That’s less than 8 percent voter turnout.

Voter turnout was also low for contested District 73 school board race. About 10 percent of the district’s voters cast ballots in this election. 

The local numbers fall below the region’s average. The Lake County clerk's website reports that overall voter turnout was 17.6 percent.
