New Safety Plan in Place at Cook Memorial Library
Employees at both library branches must learn new 100-page safety manual.
Cook Memorial Library employees are being trained on new safety measures being put into place nearly two years after a nearby robbery resulted in the suspects fleeing and being cornered by Vernon Hills police behind the Aspen Drive Library, reported Pioneer Press.
“The library wasn’t open at the time but our staff inside still didn’t know how to handle the situation,” said David Archer, manager of Aspen Drive library, to Pioneer Press.
Library employees at both Vernon Hills and Libertyville branches must become familiar with a new 100-page emergency manual for handling various situations. In addition, a reference librarian will be at the library buildings at all times, reported Pioneer Press.
