Police Blotter: Teens Arrested for Cannabis Possession; Retail Theft Arrests
The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Oct. 23 through Nov. 4.

Alcohol
Helen Spivak, 61, of 12 Cherokee Road, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Oct. 30 near Route 45 and Stone Fence Road. She was also cited for improper parking on roadway after police saw her parked in the middle of the intersection. She was released on her drivers license and $100 cash bond pending a Nov. 20 court date.
Criminal Damage to Property
Rodolfo Ivan Tamayo, 20, of 24066 W. Route 60, Round Lake, was charged with criminal damage to property Nov. 1 on the 100 block of Hawthorn Center. Police said he left graffiti on the building. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.
Drugs
Two 16-year-old boys were charged with possession of cannabis Oct. 23 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 S. Lakeview Parkway. They were released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.
A 14-year-old boy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Oct. 24 at Vernon Hills High School, 145 S. Lakeview Parkway. He was released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.
Omar V. Orozco, 34, of 1695Β Montclair Drive, Elgin, was charged with possession of cannabis Oct. 27 on the 500 block of Cherry Valley Road. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.
Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle
Mohammad Ghafouri, 42, of 9234 Oak Park, Morton Grove, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle Oct. 27 near Dearborn Lane and Southfield Drive. He was also cited for possession of stolen property and possession of cannabis, and was wanted on a Lake County warrant for burglary. He was remanded on $350,000 bond pending a Dec. 12 court date.
Retail Theft
Liliana H. Bravo, 39, of 3207 S. Cherry Ave., McHenry, was charged with retail theft Oct. 27 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $210 worth of clothing. She was released on $150 cash bond pending a Nov. 13 court date.
A 16-year-old girl was charged with retail theft Oct. 27 at JC Penney, 3 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $101 worth of clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court.
Joshua A. Roy, 20, of 4646 Southhampton, Island Lake, and a 16-year-old girl, were charged with retail theft Oct. 31 at Kohl's, 235 N. Milwaukee Ave. Police said they left the store without paying for just over $239 worth of shoes, accessories and perfume. They were released on a notice to appear in court Nov. 14.
Sarah P. Sedola, 19, of 2110 Gabriel Ave., Zion, was charged with retail theft Oct. 31 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $75 worth of shoes. She was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.Β
A 16-year-old boy was charged with retail theft Nov. 3 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $203 worth of clothing. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.
Theft
Two 12-year-old boys were charged with theft Nov. 4 at Hawthorn Middle School North, 201 W. Hawthorn Parkway. Police said one of the boys took an iPod off of the bus and gave it to the other boy. They were released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 12.
