
Spicy Bites in Vernon Hills was hit with a $500 fine this week after failing two recent health inspections.
An inspector who visited the Indian restaurant May 2 found violations that included unclean utencils and walls and a failure to keep food at a minimum of 135 degrees, Building Commissioner Michael Atkinson reported to village officials June 18.Β
The restaurantβs owners attended a May 10 hearing with Lake County health officials and the restaurant failed a second inspection on May 16, he said.Β

Spicy Bites passed its latest inspection, which was conducted on May 23.
The restaurant, which opened in 2009, faced health code violations that year, but has since been in compliance, Atkinson said.
