Townline is the latest Hawthorn District 73Β school to get a roof-top solar station.Β
Administrators successfully wrote an Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation grant, which will cover the cost of installing a 1kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system.Β
Each year, the station is expected to generate approximately 1,200 kilowatt hours of electricity and help avoid 1350 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions. Perhaps more importantly, the system will give students a hands-on look at the impact and benefits of solar energy.Β
