Information submitted by the Vernon Hills Police Department.
From now through Dec. 16, the Vernon Hills Police Department will again be a drop-off location for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.Β Last year, we had an overwhelming response and weβd like to repeat that again this year β or beat it.Β
All kinds of toys can be donated.Β The Marine Corps will distribute according to age.Β Some ideas for older children include sporting equipment/bags/balls, books, backpacks, cosmetics, purses, watch/wallet gift sets, bath gift sets, board games, radio control cars/trucks, hand-held electronics, skateboards/helmets, curling irons, hair straighteners, and hair dryers, a press release states.

βItβs unfortunate that any child should have to go through the holidays without experiencing the joy of receiving something,β state Police ChiefΒ Mark Fleischhauer in a press release. βWe hope that many residents will take advantage of the convenience and drop off a toy to brighten some childβs holiday.β
