Vernon Hills Man Dies In Hand Saw Accident At Suburban H.S.

Masonry worker Ronald P. Simonson, who was injured while working at Homewood-Flossmoor High School, has died.

FLOSSMOOR, IL — A 62-year-old construction worker from Vernon Hills, who was injured in an accident at Homewood-Flossmoor High School on Wednesday, has died.

Masonry worker Ronald P. Simonson was injured at 11 a.m. Wednesday and taken to South Suburban Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Simonson died from injuries caused by a motorized hand saw, an autopsy determined.

The incident happened at the site of the construction of a new science building on the school’s campus at 999 Kenzie Avenue.
