VHHS Cougars Advance to IHSA State Finals

Congratulations to the Vernon Hills High School girls varsity basketball team, which defeated Burlington Central in Monday's supersectional. The team will compete in the IHSA state finals Friday.

After defeating Burlington Central 39-31 in the Class 3A Hoffman Estates supersectional on Feb. 25, the Vernon Hills High School girls varsity basketball team has advanced to downstate competition for the second consecutive year, reports the Daily Herald, which has a game photo gallery on its website.

Point guard Lauren Webb alone scored 11 points, reported the Vernon Hills Review.

The VHHS Cougars will compete in the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) state finals on Friday, March 1 at Redbird Arena. Their first game will be on at noon vs. Montini. Their second game will be either noon or 2 p.m. on Saturday, depending on the outcome of Friday’s game, according to the Vernon Hills High School's website.
