Youth Swim Tryouts Monday
The Libertyville-Vernon Hills-based CATS youth swim program will hold tryouts for its spring/summer long-course season at Vernon Hills High School Monday, March 18.
The spring/summer season for the CATS Aquatic youth swim program begins in April. Those who want to be on the team are invited to tryouts from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at 145 Lakeview Parkway.
Tryouts will be done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Results of those who have made the team will be posted on the CATS Aquatic Team website on Wednesday, March 21.
Tryouts will take place Monday at Vernon Hills High School from 6-8 p.m. Take Route 60 to the Lakeview Parkway stop light west of Hawthorn Mall and turn south. To be considered for the team:

■ Swimmers age 8-under must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) of freestyle with rotary breathing and 25 yards of backstroke.
■ Swimmers 9‐10 must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle with rotary breathing and 25 yards of both backstroke and breaststroke.

■ Swimmers 11-over must be able to swim 100 yards of freestyle with rotary breathing, 50 yards of both backstroke and breaststroke, and 25 yards of butterfly.
Practices begin on April 1 and will run through July 24 at both Vernon Hills and Libertyville High Schools.
CATS has swimmers who range in ability from beginner to national-level competitors, and aims to provide a fun learning environment for those interested in competitive swimming.
