Delivery Driver Fatally Shot While Delivering Food Monday

The man, 57, was in a parked car Monday evening on the Near West Side when someone approached him and shot him in the chest, police said.

CHICAGO — A delivery driver was fatally shot while delivering food on the Near West Side Monday evening, Chicago police said.

The man, 57, was sitting in a car in the 1300 block of West Grenshaw Street at around 8:30 p.m. when a person walked up to him and fired into the car, officials said.

The man was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was later pronounced dead.

Police have not released the man's identity and told reporters they were unsure if the incident was a robbery or a carjacking.

No one was in custody as of Tuesday afternoon.
