Son Charged With Fatally Stabbing Father On West Side

Jimall Murphy, 27, allegedly stabbed the 53-year-old victim in the head and chest during a domestic dispute Tuesday, Chicago police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A 53-year-old father was fatally stabbed during a domestic dispute Tuesday on the West Side, according to Chicago police. Son Jimall Murphy, 27, of the 4800 block of West Superior Street in the Austin neighborhood, was arrested after being identified as the man responsible for the stabbing of Dennis Murphy, police said. He was charged with first-degree murder, and his bail hearing is set for Thursday.

According to police, the incident happened just after 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, in the same block of West Superior Street where Jimall Murphy lived. Jimall Murphy allegedly stabbed Dennis Murphy in the head and chest, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The younger man is accused of stabbing his father to death even as onlookers pleaded with him to stop, according to the Chicago Tribune. Authorities have not offered an apparent motive in the killing.
