Adoption Fees Waived For Large Dogs At Oct. 15 Event In DuPage Co.
Adoption fees will be waived for dogs 40 pounds or over at an event hosted by DuPage County Animal Services Oct. 15.
WHEATON, IL — DuPage County Animal Services will host a special event Oct. 15 waiving adoption fees for large dogs who weigh more than 40 pounds.
“We’ve joined with eleven other organizations in the area to champion the large breed dogs that spend a longer time in shelters, leading to increased stress on the dogs and limiting the number of animals we can serve," DuPage County Animal Services Chairman Brian Krajewski said in a news release.
He added, "Our goal is to shine a light on these dogs and showcase what great pets they can be, while providing the important education that potential owners need to make each adoption a success story."

The Oct. 15 event comes with a wider, month-long campaign to help reduce the number of large dogs in shelters in and around Chicago. For this "Chicago Dog Campaign," 12 local shelters have joined forces to help find homes for these dogs.
The campaign is set to end Nov. 30.
