87-Year-Old Wilmette Man Killed While Crossing Sheridan

He was hit by a car near the Plaza Del Lago shopping center as he tried to walk across the road.

The following is from the Wilmette Police Department:

On September 26th at 7:46pm, the Wilmette Police Department responded to a car versus pedestrian accident in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road. The accident occurred just north of the entrance to the Plaza Del Lago shopping center and adjacent to No Man’s Land Pizza. Witnesses report that the victim, an 87 year old resident of 1616 Sheridan, was walking across Sheridan Road from west to east. He attempted to cross in front of a north bound vehicle and was struck and killed by that auto. The driver of that vehicle was a 51 year old resident of Evanston.

We are being assisted in the investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) a component of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF. The victim is being transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy scheduled for tomorrow morning.

The Wilmette Police are not identifying the victim pending full notification of next of kin.
