Broken Sidewalk Plow Shifts Kenilworth's Operations

The village's usual utility vehicle broke after the most recent snow event, so a new, larger vehicle will replace it.

KENILWORTH, IL — Kenilworth will be using a different sidewalk snow plow this winter, after the usual plow broke during the most recent snow event.

Previously, the village used a utility vehicle with a mounted plow to maintain a passable sidewalk system. Due to the usual plow being out of operation, village staff will be using a secondary plow that is slightly larger.

The second vehicle may overhang the sidewalk slightly, which could potentially result in damage to some yards, the village warned. Any damaged caused by the snow removal operations will be repaired by Public Works in the spring, officials said.

"Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our Public Works staff continues to work diligently to ensure sidewalks remain passable during the winter months," the village said in a statement.

When snowfall is in excess of3 inches, crews will plow the sidewalks after streets have been plowed and salted. During these events, priority is first given to school routes, then the business district, and then the remaining neighborhood sidewalks.
