
Both the Loyola Academy girls and boys varsity lacrosse teams went home with state championships after the state tournament this week.
The girls team defeated Montini High School 16-5 on Friday.
On June 1, the boys team defeated cross-town rivals New Trier High School 9-6 for the title.
This is Loyola's second state title in a row, after NTHS held it for a straight seven years, according to Wilmette Life. Loyola grabbed the lead quickly, scoring 2 points in the first five minutes of the game. However, closed up the gap, with the final 12 minutes starting with a 6-4 score.
