New Trier Speaker: Kids Step in to Prevent Bullying Only 20% of Time
Author Emily Bazelon recently visited New Trier High School to discuss her book 'Sticks and Stone: Defeating the Culture of Bullying with Character and Empathy.'
Since 2002, New Trier High School has devoted a full day to discussing bullying and harassment with new students annually and this year, the school invited Emily Bazelon, author of Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying with Character and Empathy, Wilmette Life reported.
Bazelon talked to students about becoming an ally instead of a bystander and says that while most bullying occurs in front of a crowd, fellow bystanders step in to prevent it only 20 percent of the time, Wilmette Life reported.
