New Trier Students Raise Funds For Northfield Food Pantry
Chinese 3 students took place in a hands-on learning experience that benefits those in need.
New Trier Chinese 3 students recently participated in a hands-on learning experience as part of their Food Culture unit, using Chinese cooking to raise money for the Northfield Township Food Pantry.
In February, multiple classes started a "Cook Chinese Food, Raise Money for Charity!" fundraiser, which involved making a Chinese dish at home and submitting a photo. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, or TECO, in Chicago then donated $5 to the Northfield Township Food Pantry for every submission. "My office appreciates very much all of your efforts and time organizing this meaningful charity event and helping students connect with the community," David Dong, Director of TECO in Chicago's Education Division said in a letter to New Trier Chinese 3 students. "On behalf of our Director General Johnson Sen Chiang, we enclose a check to support your activity, donating $300 to the Northfield Food Pantry."
