Q&A: Winnetka Covenant Church Senior Pastor

Senior Pastor Peter Hawkinson has served at the , 1200 Hibbard Rd., since the spring of 2001. Before coming to Wilmette, Hawkinson served Covenant Churches in Seattle and Minneapolis. The Chicago native is the father of two daughters.

Patch: What makes Winnetka Covenant Church a great place of worship?

Winnetka Covenant Church is a vibrant, compassionate and caring community of spiritual pilgrims. What I enjoy so much about the community is the community, the sense of belonging, and of being accepted exactly where I am on my spiritual journey.

WCC is a regional Church, with members and friends from as far south as Chicago and as far north as Lindenhurst. We come together to worship and serve God from many varied experiences and communities.

Patch: What do you do that you wish the community knew about?

I wish the community were more aware of the wonderful youth and family ministry going on, and the delicious Wednesday evening dinners and fellowship we share each week.

Patch: What’s the biggest issue congregation is facing?

I think our biggest congregational issue is how we might listen for and respond to God's voice in the midst of busy and stressful life. We seem to gather around that question a lot, and it's wonderful to work on this together!
