Chicago business and civic leaders meet at Northern Trust to discuss an innovative model for preparing women for global leadership, pioneered by in Wilmette.
The model brings together leaders from global corporations and organizations such as Northern Trust, Waste Management and the National Geographic, as well as professors and students from leading global universities such as Northwestern to work and learn with Regina Dominican students, parents, alumnae and other Chicago area schools.
Together they weave real questions and problems from global areas such as energy, sustainability, finance, health, shifting populations, individual and cultural identity into the college preparatory curriculum and into offerings of the Regina Dominican Leadership Institute so learning is both rigorous and relevant and so what the Regina community does as a result of their learning leads the way to impact in the world. Currently, for instance, Regina students, faculty, university and corporate mentors are working together to put together business plans for a recycling and educational products business that relies heavily on integrating student learning from across their curriculum.
For this innovative approach to collaboration in learning, Regina Dominican has been named a finalist in the prestigious Edison Awards whose past winners include Alan Mulally, CEO of Ford Motor Company, GE Healthcare and Chris Anderson, curator of the TED conference. Regina Dominican was awarded a silver medal at the April 26th awards ceremony in New York City.
