The Big Black Dog Tavern and Grill will host a Blackhawks celebration party on Friday night to give fans one more chance to celebration the team snagging the Stanley Cup in a nail-biting finale on Monday.
The Wilmette restaurant will show the parade on TV that evening, with beer and drink specials. the Chitown Hotshots, a ragtime band, will take the stage at 8 p.m. Patrons are encouraged to wear jerseys and other Blackhawks gear.
"It's one last hurrah," Big Black Dog owner Chuck Rometty said. (Rometty also owns Gillson's across the street at 1126 Central Ave.)
He described Monday night's hockey final as "crazy".
"A lot of people came out," Rometty said, noting that a storm knocked some people's television, phones and Internet out, so some people originally came for the electricity — but stayed for the celebration.
"It was a great time...but no laws were broken!" Rometty said. "I can't wait until next year when we win it again."
