Wilmette Officials to Examine Lakefront Master Plan Aug. 5

Wilmette officials are expected to examine the potential costs and benefits of moving ahead with a lakefront master plan at the Lakefront Committee meeting Aug. 5, if the village moves ahead with the plan, Wilmette residents could see a bond issue referendum question as soon as November 2014, Chicago Tribune reported.
Bill Lambrecht, Wilmette’s superintendent of parks and planning, says Gillson Beach’s aging roads require about 40 tons of patching materials per year and needs to be rebuilt and the stormwater sewer system also needs to be replaced, “you get to a certain point where no matter how much work you do, you’re not fixing anything,” Lambrecht told the newspaper.
