Wilmette Plans Document Shredding Day In September
Residents can bring no more than six file-sized boxes or paper shopping bags of sensitive paper documents to the disposal event.
WILMETTE, IL — Wilmette residents later this month have an opportunity to offload all those filing papers they've been storing away.
For the eighth year in a row, the Village of Wilmette and Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County will host a one-day document shredding event on Sept. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon.
The event will be held in the parking lot of the Centennial Park & Recreation Complex at 2300 Old Glenview Road.

Residents must bring a form of identification or proof of residents along with up to six boxes or paper grocery bags of paper waste to be shredded. While paper clips and staples can be shredded, items like binder clips must be removed.
The village noted only sensitive documents will be accepted during the event. Examples include medical forms, bank statements, tax forms and personal files. Residents are not to bring magazines, greeting cards or other papers that can be recycled curbside.

Non-paper items like photos and plastic slides will not be accepted.
